Shenkin Hotel, now operating as Jacob Shenkin Hotel under the Jacob Hotels group, is a 30-room boutique property located in Tel Aviv's White City, the UNESCO-designated Bauhaus district whose density of international architecture, street culture, and urban walkability makes it one of the most sought-after addresses in the city. The hotel was conceived as an expression of its neighborhood rather than a retreat from it: positioned within walking distance of the Carmel Market, Nachalat Binyamin, and the Mediterranean beachfront, and designed to embody Tel Aviv's specific combination of informality and ambition. In a boutique market increasingly saturated by brands performing "local" positioning, the Shenkin Hotel distinguished itself through the operational and aesthetic authenticity of its placement.
The identity for Shenkin Hotel was structured around a conceptual inversion: rather than designing amenities and then communicating them, the studio built the brand by appropriating the city's surrounding highlights, proximity to culture, markets, nightlife, and coastline, as the hotel's own defining features. This approach described not what was inside the building but what surrounded it, anchoring the hotel's identity to the irreplaceable particularity of its location. The visual language was calibrated to convey the hotel's "young and cool" character, energy and contemporaneity, without sacrificing the legibility and authority required of a hospitality brand operating in a competitive premium market. The identity made location itself the proposition.
